At Corrigin District High School we run literacy support programs in the form of MiniLit and MacqLit.
MiniLit-
MiniLit Sage is a literacy intervention program designed for young children in Years 1 and 2 who are struggling to learn to read. The program is designed to be delivered to small groups of children of up to four children.
Students work with sounds and words - where they are explicitly taught the relationship bewteen sounds and letters and how this knowledge is critical to reading. In the sessions opportunitues are provided for the children to practise their reading skills using a variety of activies and resources.
MacqLit -
MacqLit is a reading program for children in Year 3 and above who need some extra help with their reading. It has been developed by MultiLit, a research-based intiative of Macquarie University. MultiLit has been producing reading programs for over 20 years. Students attend small group sessions 4 times per week with their tutor as well as read one to one with a teacher or tutor at least 3 times per week.
